Plant Propagation with Wes Burlingame
When: Saturday Aril 4th 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Pisgah View Community Peace Garden

What: Wes will guide us through hands on techniques for plant propagation. Starting plants from seed, cuttings, layering and division. Low tech procedures easy for the home amateur will be emphasized.

Professor T. Bud Barkslip’s Froot Skool

Bench Grafting, and cloning around with Professor T. Bud Barkslip
When: Saturday March 28th, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Pisgah View Community Peace Garden

What: Professor Barkslip will hurl you through the wild world of cloning. Archaically known as the art of grafting, you will learn to skill yourself with a very sharp knife and joining together two pieces of living wood into a growing tree using the cleft and whip and tongue graft. Also discussed will be follow up care, varieties, applications and other matters of importance the Professor deems relevant at the time. Plan on leaving with fruit trees. Note: There will be a nominal materials charge for more than 1 fruit tree.

Summer Bounty

We harvested our first crops of snap peas, turnips, arugula, leeks and kale…people interested in buying fresh produce can come by the garden or contact us at pvapeacegarden@gmail.com. Tomatoes, squash, greens, corn, bush beans, melons, eggplant, peppers, and lots more will be available throughout the summer. Stay tuned for tailgate market dates!!

PVA Peace Garden Builds a Greenhouse!

With the help of a Seed grant from the Center for Participatory Change, the community came together and built a 12′x40′greenhouse on De c. 13, 2007. Special thanks go out to Craig White, Ratus Fischer, Abagail Wendell and Owen Aschoff for their help!

GARDEN WORKDAYS

The garden will not be having workdays through the month of January. We will begin again in early February. The workdays will be on Sundays and are open to anyone who shares our vision of a sustainable future. If you need more info/directions, email us at pvapeacegarden@gmail.com.

PVA Women’s Wellness Group

Woman of PVA got together this evening in the garden for the first meeting of the women’s wellness group.  Food was shared and the ladies planned upcoming events and meetings. Topics of future discussion will be finances, stress relief, excercise, herbal remedies, and pampering ourselves!
